Root canal or endodontic treatment is a treatment in which the inflamed or infected pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected. After that filling and sealing is done using a rubber-like material. Finally, the tooth is restored with a crown or filling for protection. Often, people going for root canal treatment feel wary about the procedure. However, if you prepare yourself beforehand; you will find this procedure quite gentle.

Below mentioned are some of the key ways to prepare for root canal treatment:

Ask about antibiotics: When treating an infected tooth, the treatment could cause a bit of pain and discomfort. Ask your dentist to prescribe you some good antibiotics to help keep the pain at a minimum.

Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol: Many dentists recommend their patients to avoid smoking, alcohol and other tobacco products for at least 24 hours before the appointment. Even after the completion of root canal therapy, it is advisable to not to smoke or drink alcohol at least for 72 hours.

It is also important to discuss the whole procedure with your dentist when going for root canal treatment at Thailand. Your dentist will provide you more advice on preparing for the treatment and handling recovery after the treatment.
